Befriending feelings is like being with your feelings the way you would be with a good friend. Befriending means welcoming all feelings with non-judgmental awareness.
How to do it
- Notice what you are feeling.
- Imagine you are sitting on a porch swing with that feeling.
- Imagine welcoming that feeling with your arm around it while you swing gently.
- Notice the sensations in your body and what you are feeling now.
