FOSTERING CREATIVITY

It’s to everyone’s advantage to foster creativity in the world. Creativity is the unsung hero in every leap forward you make, whether it’s a technological breakthrough or finding a new way to appreciate your partner. Creativity requires commitment, and it also requires learning to nurture it. Cultivate a habit of not bashing creative ideas, no matter how ridiculous, unthinkable, or impossible they appear on the surface. Let your mind go a little wild every day. Like the queen in Alice in Wonderland, try to think “six impossible things before breakfast.”

A CONSCIOUS LIVING PRACTICE FOR TODAY – DECEMBER 23

Make a commitment to creativity today by devoting ten minutes to it. Sometime today, spend ten uninterrupted minutes generating creative ideas in an area you select. Choose your career or your family or any other area of living. Focus on it with the intention of generating creative new ideas that relate to it. Surprise yourself…let go and let your wild mind take over. Maybe none of them will turn out to be useful or maybe all of them will. That’s not important. What’s important is that you followed through on a visible, tangible commitment to creativity.
