SHIFTING YOUR PERCEPTION

One of the best ways to shift your perception out of habitual ruts is to ask questions of yourself. A genuine question—one that you, with all your heart, would love to have answered—can open up a wealth of learning. A friend of mine, in a moment of great humility, asked a question that immediately changed his love life. A lifelong bachelor, he had an insight one evening that his singlehood had been based on a deep fear that he could never get the kind of love he wanted. Alone in a room, he asked out loud, “How can I get the love I need?” A few seconds later, he burst into tears and sobbed for a long time. A few weeks later, he met the love of his life, to whom he has now been happily married for nearly two decades.

His life became the answer to his question.
